Knowhow, Skills and Experience
Projects Overview
The senior leadership team at Consortium Drilling has been actively involved in upstream oil and gas projects since 1978, bringing over 100 years of combined experience and expertise to the industry. Their extensive knowledge spans all technical areas of drilling and completions, having successfully delivered some of the most challenging wells globally, both onshore and offshore.
With a proven track record, the team has mastered a wide range of drilling techniques, including conventional rotary, directional drilling, underbalanced drilling, Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), and extended reach drilling (ERD) with long vertical departures. These operations have been carried out in physically demanding and geologically complex environments, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and innovation.
They also specialise in workovers, plug and abandonment (P&A) operations, and guiding wells through their full life cycle—from drilling and completions to decommissioning.
In their plug and abandonment work, the team focuses on safely and effectively restoring well sites while adhering to the highest environmental standards. Their efforts ensure that areas are returned to their natural state.
Their unparalleled expertise makes them leaders in tackling highly complex projects, delivering results in even the most extreme conditions while meeting and exceeding client expectations.

Challenges
The project involved drilling a sidetrack from the Saltfleetby gas field, which faced challenges such as tight spaces, multiple technical and geological complications. The operation reached a total measured depth of 2746 meters in the Westphalian 1D reservoir.
Solutions
Consortium Drilling mobilised Rig #4 and implemented advanced strategies to overcome these challenges, including using whipstock installations, pressure testing, and milling operations. Despite setbacks, the operation was completed without any reportable health, safety, or environmental incidents.
Outcomes
The operation was a success, with a Non-Productive Time (NPT) of 2.84%, and the client provided excellent feedback, leading to further deep drilling opportunities.

The team displayed outstanding agility, experience, and professionalism throughout the drilling at Saltfleetby. Despite initial challenges, their prompt response and expert problem-solving ensured smooth operations. Their dedication and efficiency were crucial to the project’s success.
